Reigniting Battery Puts Tesla in Turmoil
Looks like Elon Musk will have to hold off on those Mars colonization plans. Tesla is in serious turmoil after a series of spontaneous fires involving their electric vehicles. The most recent of which occurred after a fatal crash in Florida.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the vehicle was going 116 miles per hour three seconds before the 18-year-old driver lost control and crashed. Both the driver and front seat passenger died, but the third and only surviving passenger in the back was ejected from the car right before the vehicle burst into flames.
Firefighters on the scene extinguished the flames only to have them spontaneously reignite when the vehicle was being removed—and then again when the car arrived at the storage yard. This alarming incident is one of three to have happened in the last few months.
