The Benefits of Cultivating Leadership and Employee Retention

Laura Stepp, the VP of People & Workplace at Jama Software, joined us at the PDX Lunch & Learn on June 20th to talk about cultivating leadership and employee retention.

She gave us some great food for thought, as we explored the benefits of fostering a positive workplace culture that’s conducive to engagement at every level. Among the many lessons she imparted, one of our main takeaways was the importance of experimentation within an organization.

In order to provide your people with an optimal career trajectory, you need to give them the freedom to explore different roles. To learn more, check out her presentation here!

Reigniting Battery Puts Tesla in Turmoil

Looks like Elon Musk will have to hold off on those Mars colonization plans. Tesla is in serious turmoil after a series of spontaneous fires involving their electric vehicles. The most recent of which occurred after a fatal crash in Florida.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the vehicle was going 116 miles per hour three seconds before the 18-year-old driver lost control and crashed. Both the driver and front seat passenger died, but the third and only surviving passenger in the back was ejected from the car right before the vehicle burst into flames.

Firefighters on the scene extinguished the flames only to have them spontaneously reignite when the vehicle was being removed—and then again when the car arrived at the storage yard. This alarming incident is one of three to have happened in the last few months.

Sowing the Seeds for the Silicon Forest

It’s no secret that the Silicon Forest is flourishing. Tech companies and professionals alike are flocking to the Portland area, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it!

For years, we’ve been building a network of the abundant top talent in the area. But what makes us different from other IT staffing companies is this: We don’t just look for technical matches for a job. To us, finding candidates who fits a company’s culture is just as, if not more so, important than their skills.

Now, the question is—how do we recruit for culture? We could tell you, but we’d rather show you! Check out this ICON Creative production to learn how our team equips you for success.
