Uber Hits the Brakes on Self-Driving Cars After Fatal Accident
This crash may be the one to total Uber’s reputation. A female pedestrian in Arizona died after one of Uber’s self-driving vehicles struck her as she was walking across the street. The company subsequently pulled all of its autonomous vehicles off public roads in Arizona, as well as in major cities San Francisco, Toronto and Pittsburgh. An Uber spokesperson reported, “Our hearts go out to the victim’s family. We are fully cooperating with local authorities in their investigation of this incident.”
