Assignment Details
- Location: Redding, California
- Start Date: June 22, 2026
- Duration: 8 Weeks
- Schedule:
- 1 day per week
- 8-hour day shifts
- Flexible scheduling: Work either one 8-hour shift or two 4-hour shifts
- Setting: Correctional Health / County Jail

What You'll Do
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment planning for incarcerated patients
- Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications
- Conduct medication management and follow-up evaluations
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies including suicide risk, self-harm, and behavioral crises
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, behavioral health professionals, and correctional staff
- Educate healthcare teams and correctional personnel on mental health conditions and treatment
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance activities
- Provide psychiatric consultation to medical staff
- Supervise Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs), psychologists, social workers, and behavioral health staff
- Participate in staff education and training initiatives
- Provide telephone call coverage as needed for after-hours psychiatric care
Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrist
- Active California medical license (or eligibility to obtain)
- DEA registration
- Experience providing psychiatric care to adult patients
- Correctional or forensic psychiatry experience preferred but not required
- Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
- Clean NPDB and professional background preferred
